boat water pump not priming
A water pump (well pump) might get air in the inlet pipe which might prevent it from pumping water. this video shows how to fix this problem.. I'm not sure it's a "not priming" problem, but, when i switch from an empty water tank, as indicated by the pump running continuously without building pressure, to a full tank, the pump doesn't successfully resume its duties: it just runs and runs, and never builds water pressure. it's a groco 36800-1000 pump, 20 to 40 psi automatic pressure. So that’s how it’s supposed to work. if that’s not the case for you, here are some reasons why your self-priming pump might not prime. why your self-priming pump won’t prime. air leak in suction line as fluid recirculates in the pump and forces air out of the discharge chamber, it’s trying to create an area of low pressure..
boat water pump not priming Inadequate power to water pump if the revolutions per minute (rpm) is too low, the pump will not prime. be sure the engine or motor are operated at the correct rpms for your water pump. the priming issue may be a power supply problem and not directly a pump problem. there are other issues with water pump performance.. Remove the fresh water supply hose from the hand pump to see if water is flowing from it. if water flow is not present you can try moving the hose end to a lower point in the boat or simply try sucking on it like a straw. if there’s good water flow, then your hand pump likely needs a rebuild..
